Still Life Fruit Oil Painting by Bruce Mccrory

1940 - 1960
Description

This fine oil painting on canvas has been executed to a very high standard depicting a wicker basket full of fruit sitting on a table.

-

There is the appearance of natural light within the painting which is greatly enhanced by the white tablecloth which has beautifully illuminated the detailed foliage, bunches of purple, red and white grapes, an half eaten pomegranate, apples, a lemon, a pear and, most interestingly, two cactus pears.

-

These are the edible fruit of the prickly pear cactus, as species formerly native only to the Americas, but now available in various warmer climates throughout the world.

-

The fruit has to be carefully prepared to remove the fine hairy spines, but spineless varieties have been cultivated now.

-

The painting is framed in a 4" reverse spoon shaped gilt frame and white linen slip and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
