An expansive breathtaking view across part of the River Trent near Donnington in Leicestershire. This skilful composition draws your eye towards the overhanging trees and along the river with its beautiful flickers of light. While in the top left, a flock of birds provide balance with their diagonal formation.

The painting is signed in the lower left, inscribed on the reverse, and housed within a later frame.

Overall size: 33½” x 21½” / 85cm x 55cm

Year of creation: 1875

Provenance: England

Condition: Overall very presentable. Craquelure but the paint layer is stable. A few areas of minor paint loss. Frame with some age-related wear.
