Portrait miniature of William Hogarth, circa 1900

Original English hand painted portrait miniature on ivory, after the 1749 engraving, of the 1730s self portrait.

Hogarth's engraved image was attached to bound copies of his work as a kind of visual business card.

Earlier high quality turned oval stained pear wood frame marked PARR, with original thick convex oval glass, 1800

Visible painting size 2" x 1,3/4" or 52mm x 43mm

Weight 90 grams.
