Fine Oil Portrait Of Thomas Higham Of Bramfield

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

A fine quality oil on tin painting of Thomas Higham of Bramfield in Suffolk. The painting is beautifully worked in great, realistic detail. It has been professionally cleaned and is in good condition with some minor overpaint in the background. The gilt frame is the original and in great untouched condition. There is some wonderful family history for the sitter on the reverse and is stated to have been painted by R Willoughby in April 1831. Robert Willoughby was a marine painter of the period and it could possibly be by him though it would have been a departure in subject matter. The whole has a great look and is ready to hang.

Overall sizes in inches including frame: 11 ¾ by 12 1/4
