A French 19th Century painting in the tradition of the Barbizon painters, featuring a beautiful sunset... and a lone figure seated by the lake with his dog.

The oil on canvas is indistinctly signed at the lower left, and signed again to the verso, on the stretcher bars, where the artist dedicated the painting to "Madame...(?)". Sadly, I have not been able to decipher the signature. The artwork, in fair condition, is presented in its original frame, which however has considerable wear and tear and visible repair. Measuring 24 x 35 cm, the overall framed size is 37 x 47.5 cm.
