Description

A pair of watercolours attributed to Sam Prout (1783-1852) of cottages with figures, boats etc in gilded frames. The subjects are possibly in the West Country, Prout was born in Plymouth and was a noted painter of topographical and architectural scenes, in 1829 he was appointed by George IV with the title Painter in Water-Colours in Ordinary. The one painting is signed SP in the bottom left hand corner.

The paintings are 18x 14 cm and the frames are 41x 36 cm.
