Bellias studied with the Fauve master Othon Friesz at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, and with sculptor Robert Wlerick at the School of Applied Arts. In 1957 and 1959 he was awarded first prize at the Salon of the "Jeune Peinture" artists. In Paris, Bellias had solo shows at the Monique de Poote Gallery, the Cardo Gallery, and notably with Jean-Claude Bellier (Edouard Vuillard's godson), the legendary gallerist and great defender of the Jeune Peinture movement.
Bellias furthermore exhibited at, The Autumn Salon, Salon of Independent Artists, The Tuileries Salon and the Salon of the Artists Witnesses of their Time.
Our gorgeous and colourful oil on canvas measures 46 x 38 cm and is signed at the lower right. It is dated on the verso and titled "Oeillets de l'Inde" (Carnations of India). The overall framed size in an exquisite frame by Parisian master framers Delf is 62 x 55 cm
