It evokes the sights and sounds of local workers hoisting goods from the river and perhaps there’s a winch on the other side.
Alfred H Vickers was probably related to Alfred Gomersal Vickers (1810-1837) and Alfred Vickers Senior (1786-1868). He’s known to have exhibited at the Royal Academy and generally painted in England.
The painting is signed in the lower right and housed within an ornate later frame.
