With boundless energy and creativity Touchages created stage costumes, trompe l'oeil decors, frescos and murals, painted glass for the glass roofs of the Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
As a painter, he exhibited alongside Chagall, Dufy, Zadkine and Marie Laurencin, and had one man shows in Amsterdam, New York, Pittsburgh, Lisbon, Lausanne, Geneva, Tunis and London.
Touchages became known as the "painter of delight", a master of all things light and cheerful. Our harlequin is a small but delightful testimony to the artist's joie de vivre. The gouache on paper measures 23 x 17 cm and is signed at the lower right. The overall framed size is 31 x 36 cm.
