Signed in the corner by the known famous listed artist Edwin Loder (1827-1885).

Edwin Loder of Bath is the son of James Loder, Edwin inlisted in the 62nd Regiment of Foot in 1846 serving mostly in India until being discharged in 1866 as 'unfit for further service'. He was made an out-pensioner at The Royal Chelsea Hospital and then returned to Bath and set up studio in Widcombe.

Edwin Loader’s portfolio of recorded works are dated between 1850 and 1885 and specialize in 19th-century farm animal paintings of cattle and dogs as well as sporting paintings of hunters. This is a very high-quality example of the artist's work. He has captured the light on the horse and in the stable perfectly.

Set in such a fine gilt frame 1kg unwrapped weight approximate.
