Romantic Scene Eighteenth Century Dutch Oil Painting

A fine and decorative Dutch eighteenth century oil on canvas courtship scene. The work is typical of pieces from the period but is of a particularly delightful subject matter, two men competing for the attention of a lady. The work has been lined in the nineteenth century and has recently been professionally cleaned. It does have the typical craquelure for an oil of this period. The painting is framed in the original remarkable gilt frame of bold, heavy manufacture and design. The frame has some light over-gilding and minor repairs and overall is in good untouched condition. A great early period artwork that would work well in a variety of period decorative schemes. C.1780.
