Late Regency Portrait Oil Painting of a Lady

An interesting and decorative late Regency oil on canvas portrait of a lady. The lady has the most enigmatic face and is beautifully painted. The work was obviously been a treasured piece as it has been repaired and re-stretched in the Victorian period. It has a great tired period look, there is some craquelure and minor restorations that actually just add to the decorative look it has. The portrait is framed in a Victorian period mahogany which it will have been in since it was repaired and save in the Victorian period. The whole has a wonderful aura and gives the most perfect English country house look. The portrait will date to C.1830 and I think the frame and the repairs would be no later than C.1880.
