A large elegant mid century modern oil on canvas painted in that very pure style, linear style that is evocative of works by Bernard Buffet.

The painting is by Pierre Lemarchand (1906-1970), an artist from the Lorraine region of France, who exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français. Lemarchand also showed his work at the renowned Montmartre gallery "La Belle Gabriele" , where the present work was probably acquired by its previous owers. Many of Lemarchand's landscapes depict Provence, where he settled, but he also worked in Brittany, and in the Loire region, where I believe our "Old Farmhouse " was painted.

The oil on canvas measures 60 x 73 cm and is signed at the lower left. The overall framed size in a period quality frame is 60 x 93 cm
