Fine Pastel Portrait Of George Botham

A fine and decorative pastel portrait of George Botham C.1760. The work is very confidently done and is in excellent condition. The frame is the original and of wonderful quality with all original gilding. The pastel retains a period label on the reverse describing the sitter as George Botham of Speenhamland formerly of Sheffield, friend of the artists George Morland and John Raphael Smith. The work is taken from a portrait by Smith and was most likely done at a later date. The whole is in excellent ready to hang condition. C.1830.
