Description

A sweet, touching and cheerful depiction of humble pansy flowers by the reknowned French flower painter Eugene Petit (1838-1886).

After studies with Edouard Muller and Charles Dieterle, Eugene Petit exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1863, and obtained a medal in 1873.

His paintings can be found in numerous French museums, such as those of Carcassonne, Compiègne, Courtrai, Rouen and Saint-Etienne.

Our painting by Eugene Petit is a particularly fresh and lively oil sketch on canvas mounted on board. Measuring 27 x 21.5 cm, the painting is signed at the lower left.

The framed size in a modest period frame is 26 x 28.5 cm. Please note that a second floral still life by Eugene Petit - a slightly smaller pendant - is available in a separate listing.
