A Large 19th Century Watercolour Florizel and Perdita

Description

A large painting after an original oil by British artist Charles Robert Leslie 1794-1859. Apparently unsigned this fine quality watercolour was possible painted as a commission. The original oil hangs in the V and A. The painting depicts a scene from Winters Tale by Shakespeare. Prince Florizel has fallen in love with shepherdess Perdita and in disguise the seated figures are King Polixines the princes father and Camilo a Sicilian nobleman. Well mounted in a line wash mount housed in a more recent gilt frame. Dimensions are for painting only.
