Oil Painting of Mount Snowdon by Alfred Oliver

A fine and dramatic oil on artist board of Mount Snowdon with flowering gorse by Alfred Oliver (1868-1943). The painting is beautifully worked with great detail and wonderfully captures the view and the time of year, the use of yellow is quite stunning. The work has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The piece is typically signed to the lower right. Alfred Oliver (1868-1943), was born in Nottingham but lived for most of his later years in North Wales, where he was renowned for painting the landscapes in differing weather conditions and times of day. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1886-1921. The painting is framed in a period gilt frame that has some minor old repair but retains the original gilding. The whole has a great dramatic look and is an unusual and desirable work by this sort after artist. C.1920.
