Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Designed during the 19th century, Victorian tiered occasional tables served as versatile accent pieces used for serving tea, displaying ornaments, or holding books and lamps. These multi-tiered designs often featured turned central pedestals and decorative spindle galleries typical of period British cabinetmaking.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised dense hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, and walnut, valued for rich grain figures and structural stability. Construction methods combined hand-turned central columns, lathe-turned spindles, and shaped triform or quadrupod bases.

Authentic pieces feature dark timber with characteristic dark streaks, hand-finished surfaces, and original underside construction joinery. Natural wood shrinkage over time and hand-turned spindle variations distinguish authentic 19th-century examples from modern reproductions.

Place the piece beside an armchair, in a reading corner, or within an entryway alcove to introduce period texture. The upper tier accommodates small decorative objects, while the lower shelf provides functional surface area for books or drinks.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft lint-free cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish periodically to maintain timber lustre. Position the table away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent veneer movement or wood shrinkage.
