Rowland Henry Hill 1873-1952.Landscape and figure painter in oil and watercolour .Born in Halifax he studied at Halifax and Bradford School of Art and Herkomer School Bushey.Exhibited 21 works at the RA from 1897,in the provinces and the Paris Salon.Lived at Hinderwell near Staithes.Hill was a leading member of the Staithes School of Artists.’Ships moored off the Coast’ signed watercolour dated 1911, image size 43x36.5 cms,framed size 63.5x56.5 cms.This fine example of his work is accommodated in its original gilt frame.
