A large and poetic depiction of white flowers against an azure blue background by William Ear Singer (1910-1981). Elegantly stylised and with an art deco feel, this joyous painting is presented in its original hand carved wooden frame.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Singer studied painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and in Paris with Andre Lhote. He lived and worked in Chicago until 1940. He then moved to California and was active in the Los Angeles art scene into the 1970s. Singer made frequent trips to South America and France, where the painting presented here was given by singer to the previous owners, the Vorms family.

William Ear Singer Singer exhibited: Art Institute of Chicago from 1932-41; at the New York World's Fair in 1939; at the Golden Gate International Exposition in 1939; with Stendahl Gallery of Los Angeles) in 1940 and with the California Watercolour Society between 1942-43.

Our oil on canvas measures 71 x 56 cm and is signed and dated 1968 at the lower right. The overall framed size is 92.5 x 77 cm.
