This is a delightful, original painting after Francois Boucher in its original high quality gilt bronze ormolu frame dating from around 1860. The picture is expertly painted in bold gouache colours and depicts a grand woodland gathering with many ladies and a gentleman playing blind mans buff. Cupid and his quiver of arrows is in the foreground and a fountain water feature to the left .

The colours and detail to this work are a true delight as is the very high quality, heavy bronze easel frame that compliments the piece beautifully.

Francois Boucher (1703-1770) was a French painter, etcher and draughtsman who famously worked in the Rococo style. He is well renowned for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories and pastoral scenes. He was perhaps the most celebrated painter and decorative artist of the 18th century.

This beautiful painting is one of eight good miniature paintings after Boucher that we currently have listed that came from the same collection.
