George Wetherbee "A West Wind" Oil Painting

1900 - 1920
Description

George Faulkner Wetherbee, R.I., R.O.I. (1851–1920) was a notable painter. Born in Cincinnati, his early talent was evident and he was sent to Europe to study in art schools at Antwerp, then London where he lived and painted for much of his life. He achieved success in his middle years around the turn of the century, with recognition by the distinguished London art societies, where his mastery of colour and light were highly acclaimed.

The present painting is a wonderful example measuring 20"x 14". It is signed lower right and is in an impressive gilt frame giving an overall size of 29"x 22". The back of the frame remains undisturbed with a lovely original label giving the title and artist's name and Hampstead, London address.
