Mrs, Brooks the wife of the engraver John Brooks, who was a celebrated beauty, this is one portrait of a number of variations, adaptations and copies by various artists and engravers. This engraving by Charles Spooner, ( Fl. 1720-1767).
Although quite scarce, an identical image to this is, in mezzotint form, is held in the collection of the national portrait gallery London.
In good, sound condition, with some crazing of the varnish but the image is well attached to the glass with no distortions.
Original ebonised moulded frame with granular gilt slip.
The frame 18,1/2'' x 14,1/2'' or 467mm x 366mm.
