Almost a miniature, this delightful oil on panel is a little gem of a painting. Dating from the late 19th Century and perfectly impressionistic in style; it depicts a country woman herding cows on a path by a river in a lush green landscape: one can almost smell the fragrant air.

Unsigned, the painting is presented in its original turn-of-the-century frame, and bears on the verso a label from a framer in The Hague, leading me to think that it is a work by a Dutch artist. While is the work is of excellent quality,

Measuring, 16 x 15 cm, the panel is slightly warped and a fracture has been restored. The overall framed size is 23 x 22 cm.
