Description

How about a last taste of winter? This atmospheric landscape by Charles Celestin Jacquet (1841-1921) depicts at snow in the glow of sunset, a snowy path near a lake on which is moored a lone boat - and it shows us just how magically beautiful the season can be.

Jacquet was a Franco-Belgian artist, who exhibited his work with the Generale des Beaux Arts at the Triennale, as well as at the Universal Exhibition, in Brussels. He also was a Professor at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts.

Painted circa 1890, our oil on relined canvas measures 32 x 51 cm. It is signed at the lower left. While the painting has been fully restored with inpainting visible under UV, the stretcher bars remain a little warped.

The overall framed size in a modest frame with some wear and repair is 42 x 61 cm.
