British artist Alfred Vickers senior, landscape and marine painter, born London 1786 - 1868. RA (125) exhibits. Working in the first half of the 19th century his style was rapid and sketchy, giving spontaneity to his work. This piece is on panel and has the area of light in the painting that he frequently used. The gilt, gesso, pierced frame is of a later date but with some age . The whole in good unrestored condition. As with all our paintings the photographs are taken in natural light with no enhancements. Dimensions are for the painting, overall measurements are 48 x 56 x 7 overall.
