Description

A calming autumnal landscape painting by French artist, Leon Marie Benoit. The subdued palette of subtle browns and cool blues give the piece a chilly atmosphere. It evokes the feeling of a brisk walk on a cold day in November.

In 1907, Benoit was awarded a medal at a Salon in Lyon where he exhibited multiple times. The painting is signed in the lower right and housed within a decorative foliate frame.

Overall size: 23” x 18” / 59cm x 46cm

Year of creation: c. 1910

Provenance: France

Condition: Very presentable. Frame with a little age-related wear and some minor losses.

Artist’s auction highlight: £4,800 achieved at Christie’s for ‘Peaches and Cherries Cascading from a French Faience Bowl’ in 2004.
