Aicardi’s talent was spotted at a young age and he soon found himself enrolled to study at the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti in Genoa. During his time there, he was taught by the highly accomplished Neapolitan painter, Giuseppe Pennasilico, who encouraged him to paint ‘en plein air’.
He’s predominantly known for his frescos, which adorn various palaces and churches, but he’s also considered to be an important member of the post-impressionist and modernist movements.
The painting is signed in the lower left and housed within a simple wooden frame.
