Description

A beautiful early 20th-century portrait of a woman wearing a blue top with a white collar by German artist Hans Anton Cilio-Jensen (1876-1959). She looks across to our right with her hands prominently displaying her wedding ring.

Little is known about Cilio-Jensen but he is recorded as having worked and exhibited in Dresden. The painting is signed/dated in the lower left.

Medium: Oil on canvas

Overall size: 19½” x 26” / 50cm x 66cm

Year of creation: 1929

Provenance: Denmark

Condition: A few light scratches and a small pinhole in the top right but otherwise fine.

Artist’s auction highlight: £1,113 achieved for ‘Stiefmütterchen und Erdbeeren’ at a German auction in 1999.
