Japanese Silvered Bronze Hawk On Prunus Branch By Kazan

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Steve Sly Japanese Works of Art

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this delightful Meiji period 1868-1921 study of a Hawk upon a gnarled bronze and silvered base in the form of a prunus (cherry blossom tree ), the artist Kazan has captured a charming pose in which the bird is preening his claws with his beak, the bird itself silvered bronze with its extremities picked out in gilt and shakudo detailing, the base unusually cast in bronze as a prunus branch with foliage highlighted in silver, a most charming rendition that would enhance a Japanese themed room or as a fine addition to your Japanese okimono collection, artist signed in a seal beneath the tail feathers that reads Kazan.
