Fine Cottage Scene Oil Painting

A fine oil on panel depicting a rural scene with cottage. The painting is typical of the genre and is of a fine quality both beautifully observed and technically. The work on the trees is particularly good and the detail of the cottage with the garden behind and figures. The work does not appear to be signed but it is difficult to see in the darker areas, although not signed the quality is undeniable. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The frame is not the original but is contemporaneous to the work, it retains the original gilding and is in very good country house condition. There is a modern slip used in the frame. The whole has a wonderful period look and is ready to hang. C.1850.
