Early 20th-century German School Impressionistic Landscape with Cart

Description

A beautiful impressionistic landscape painting depicting a horse and cart within an attractive light-filled meadow. The artist has built up the oils to give the painting texture and interest. It’s reminiscent of a Claude Monet and perhaps it was created en plein air.

The painting is housed within a wonderfully knackered old frame that’s probably its original.

Medium: Oil on canvas

Overall size: 23” x 18” / 59cm x 45cm

Year of creation: c. 1900

Provenance: Germany

Condition: Craquelure throughout with a few minor losses. One small repair. Losses around the edges due to its frame. Frame with a partial loss of gilding.
