George Hamilton Constantine 1878–1967.Sheffield artist who studied at the Sheffield College of Art.In the 1930s he became assistant to Sir William Rothstein who was Professor of Civic Art at Sheffield University.Constantine became Director of the Graves Art Gallery in the 195Os.He exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool and the Royal Academy.He did not need to exhibit his work widely as there was a steady demand for it here and New York.’Scarborough Castle’signed watercolour inscribed with title,image size 35x53cms,framed size 57c73cms.Housed in original regilded swept frame also inscribed with title on the original gilt mount and with titled label verso.
