Coastal Scene Oil Painting by Joseph W Yarnold

A fine coastal scene oil on canvas by Joseph W. Yarnold. The scene shows a rough sea with boats under sail in the foreground and in the background a ruined castle and seaside town. The work is signed to the lower right but not dated. The painting is typical of the artist's work who was born in 1817 and died in 1852. He lived in London and exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1841 and 52. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in good condition with a typical craquelure to paint that is seen in works of this age. The frame is the original and in very good untouched condition. The whole has a great English country house look and is ready to hang. C.1850.
