English Impressionist Oil Painting of Low Tide

A fine oil on canvas depicting a scene at low tide on the coast. The painting is very impressionistic in style with the use of thick impasto paint, broad brushstrokes, quickly worked in layers of colour. The painting does not appear to be signed, sadly, though the quality of the work speaks for itself, technically it is beautifully contstructed with the eye drawn to the grounded boat and figures next to it. The painting has been professionally cleaned and a few minor holes repaired and is now in excellent condition. The work is in the original frame which is of a large substantial size adding impact to the canvas. The frame is in untouched condition with the original gilding and only with some very minor repairs. The whole has a great look and the painting itself has an enigmatic and ethereal feel, it is ready to hang and has a huge amount of decorative impact. C.1900.
