Description

A fragrant, tender and joyful still life of Anemones in a simple basket. Dating from the 1930s; the scene is bathed in light, with subtle shades and a light touch.

Born in Rennes, Jean was the son of landscape painter Jules Ronsin. Having initially studied with his father, he soon moved to Paris to continue his studies with Jean Paul Laurens. As member of the National Fine Arts Academy, he would later teach drawing drawing himself.

Exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Francais, the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon des Tuileries, Ronsin obtained many prestigious prizes, such as the Bertrand Duhamel Prize, the Stillman Prize, the Letour Prize, as well as a medal at the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris. Works by Jean Ronsin are in museums in Rennes and in Paris.

Signed at the upper right and dated 1933 or 1937, our oil on hardboard also bears the studio stamp on the verso. Measuring 38 x 46 cm, the overall framed size is 50 x 57 cm (frame with minor wear and repair)
