Charming Oil Painting 'The Hop Pickers'

A charming oil on canvas painting depicting hop pickers in the 1940's. The painting shows the most interesting and detailed scene of hop pickers, including children in the foreground. The painting is only signed with initials 'P.J.W.' these are obscured under the frame mount. I have been unable identify the artist, it is always difficult with artist monograms. The quality of the work does speak for itself and must have been done by a professional artist of the time. The painting has been professionally cleaned and wax lined to support the canvas and is in excellent condition. The work is mounted in a Victorian period gilt frame with the original gilding, it has had some minor repair. The whole is in ready to hang condition and has a great period look. C.1940.
