Description

A simple delightful and exuberant bunch of marigold flowers by Henri Brasseur (1918- 1981). Dating from the late 1930s, it has a touch of Art Deco to it, accentuated by its original silver frame.

With incredible raw talent that manifested itself early, Brasseur was admitted to the Fine Arts Academy of his home town, Liège, at the age of only 16, where he would later also teach. In 1943, Henri Brasseur was awarded the first "Prix de Rome" for the most promising young artist, with a stipend to spend a year at the Villa Medicis.

Numerous works by the artist are in the collections of the Fine Arts Museums of Liège and Brussels.

Our oil on canvas is signed at the lower right and measures 60 x 51 cm. The overall framed size in its original frame with some wear and repair is 75 x 65 cm.
