This tranquil and sunny garden scene dates from circa 1900-1910, making it a work of art from the impressionist period, truly innovative and groundbreaking for its time. The thick impasto creates an almost pointillist effect of that mimics mottled sunlight on the meadow and the lettuce patch.

French in origin, and likely depicting Normandy - where it was painting was acquired- is signed at the lower right with an indistinct signature, which I have not been able to make out (H..P...?). An oil on canvas measuring 33 x 46 cm, the overall framed size is 47 x 60 cm.
