Oil Painting of Queen Victoria's Dog 'Dash' After Landseer

Oil on wooden panel of Queen Victoria's spaniel 'Dash' after the original by Sir Edwin Landseer. Dash the spaniel was the favourite dog of Queen Victoria before and during the early years of her reign. The animal did gain some fame and was painted by Landseer in 1836, this work is a competent period copy of that work. The painting is in good condition it has been professionally cleaned, the panel has been split some time ago and the join is still visible in some lights. The painting has been mounted in a gilt oval slip as per the original, the gilt frame is most likely a bit later in date. The frame has had some repair and woodworm treated and filled. The whole is ready to hang and really does have a great decorative look. C.1840.
