The painting depicts the events of the 2nd of June 1953 when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned at Westminster Abbey. The painting is dated 13th of June 1953 and may have been painted after photo of the events taken by the artist a Known Photographer and decorator at the Wedgwood Pottery factory. The Painting is very detailed and naturalistic giving an impression that the viewer can almost step in to the events of the day.
