A truly enchanting scintillating colourist - and almost pointillist- view of the mediterranean sea. Depicted is almost certainly the Cote d'Azur between Marseilles and Cassis, where the ruggedly beautiful Calanque inlets can be found.

Painted circa 1910, our oil on board is signed at the lower right. The name - Martin - is too frequent to be able to identify the artist with certainty.

Measuring 26 x 34 cm, the board is slightly buckled - clearly from former influence of humidity - in the lower left quarter. The overall framed size in it period frame is 41 x 50 cm.
