Framed hand painted porcelain oval plaque depicting Cupid and Psyche, probably French, circa 1900

Straight from the pages of Colette and the Belle Epoque.

Hand painted on porcelain, a well executed miniature expressing the raptures and yearnings of love.

Cupid 'erotic love' is kissing a dreaming nude Psyche, 'the soul or breath of life' amongst the clouds.

Mounted in the original French gilt brass and velvet frame with anthemion and eagle mounts.

All in good sound condition, the plaque perfect , the frame with signs of age and cleaning, the back with ring for wall hanging, missing the easel strut.

The frame 5,3/4" or 147mm wide.

The plaque 2,3/8" or 62mm wide.
