Description

A light-filled rural landscape painting depicting a group of field-hands resting under a large oak tree. In the background, hundreds of haystacks extend towards a distant vanishing point. While in the foreground, several swans are swimming on a moss-covered pond.

The painting is housed within a highly decorative 19th-century Rococo revival frame with swept pierced corners and foliate ornamentation.

Medium: Oil on board laid on panel

Overall size: 23” x 17” / 58cm x 43cm

Year of creation: c. 1910

Provenance: Germany

Condition: A few minor paint losses and a scratch but it all seems to blend in. Frame with small losses and age-related wear.
