Description

Striking 1/2 length portrait miniature of a brown haired, hazel eyed Fraulein set against a stippled ground.

Signed, German / Austrian hand painted portrait miniature of a young woman, circa 1840's

Signed in beautiful miniature script Amalie Von Peter, a portrait miniaturist working in Vienna and Munich between 1835 and 1847.

A wealthy and beautiful girl adorned with a jewel and cross hung on a black silk neck ribbon, form fitted off the shoulder bodice, half sleeved pure white dress.

Her hairstyle heavy ringlets, central parting embellished with a white camellia.

A pink rose on her bodice signifying a young lady/girl.

Skillfully rendered in subtle colours with lifelike skin tones.

The painting is in excellent bright condition, remarkably bright as it is painted on card.

Housed in a later wooden frame with original gilt slip and glazed, currently not sealed at the back.

Visible painting size 3,5/8" x 3" or 92mm x 76mm
