An evocative 19th-century landscape depicting a winding track running alongside a river before a glowing setting sun.

The artist has achieved so much with a limited palette and they’ve captured the effects of light beautifully.

The painting is housed within an attractive later frame with foliate corners and a decorative inner border.

Medium: Oil on canvas

Overall size: 29” x 21” / 74cm x 53cm

Year of creation: c. 1870

Provenance: Germany

Condition: Craquelure throughout but the paint layer is stable under varnish. Canvas relined. Frame with light age-related wear.
