A fine oil on artist board of two ladies. The painting is typical of Victorian Romanticism with both figures looking directly out of the painting in a coquettish manner. The work is shows a high level of competency however it is not signed, this is not uncommon for this type of ''English School'' commercial work produced for the newly wealthy middle classes. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The frame is of the correct period and possibly the original. It has been later gilded and rubbed back giving it a very good antique look. The whole is a large and decorative work in excellent condition and is ready to hang. C.1880.
