Japanese Meiji Period Carved IVory Mixed Fruit Okimono

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this charming Meiji period 1868-1912 , circa 1890 group of carved and stained Ivory Fruit , the unknown artist or artists have carved in painstaking detail a rendition of a Satsuma , Apple and Banana , the Ivory fruits are then stained using vegetable dyes available at the time to bring them to life , the skins of each Fruit individually peeled or part peeled to reveal the flesh inside in incredible lifelike detail , the three Fruits displayed as an Okimono upon a period burlwood stand to great effect , a last chance to add this fascinating group to your collection .

The Fruits in perfect undamaged condition with some minor fading , the base slightly warped but perfectly functional .
