An early 20th-century portrait of a woman wearing a large pendant and chain with her hair in fashionable waves. It’s a sensitive portrayal, which perhaps suggests that the artist knew the sitter.

During the 1930s, women often wore their hair in waves as they moved away from the sleek bobs of the 1920s. Film stars, such as Katharine Hepburn and Loretta Young were influential in a young lady’s fashion decisions.
