Johannes Petrus van Velzen was a Dutch painter who was born in 1816. Many works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'The Dutch tavern near the lake' sold at Christie's South Kensington '19th Cent. European Art Including Ottomans and Orientalists' in 2002 for $12,328. The artist died in 1853. Signed and dated 1847. Cooling Gallery, New Bond Street. Label on reverse.
